Much is made of health and safety issues in the workplace, where we are obliged to watch health and safety videos and abide by regulations to avoid ending up in a No Win No Fee situation. But health and safety is largely unregulated in the home and it is up to us as individuals how much effort we put in.
As a minimum we should consider installing smoke alarms around the house to alert us if fire breaks out as these can mean the difference between escaping from a fire or not. They are inexpensive to buy and can save lives so it is crazy not to invest in one.
You may also want to consider a fire extinguisher in the home and you can buy small ones which are designed for the home rather than the workplace. Hopefully you will never need it but it could be a life saver if the worst were to happen.
If you have small children you will be even more careful over safety and there are many gadgets specially designed to keep your home safe from children such as guards so that they cannot reach the hob, and catches so that they do not end up in the washing machine or tumble dryer by mistake.
